Augmentin medicine is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin interferes with the growth and division process of the bacterial cell wall while clavulanic acid ensures extended anti-bacterial activity. This combination treats bacterial infections of the lungs and airways, or middle ear, also sinuses, skin, and urinary tract.

Side effects

Some of the major side effects of Amoxicillin: allergic skin reaction, diarrhea.Such as fever, or joint pain, skin yellowing, also easy tearing and bleeding, including heavy menstrual bleeding, tooth discoloration, or nausea or vomiting, muscle or joint pain, sleepiness, including irregular heartbeat

Amoxicillin for tooth infection

These pills are very effective antibiotics against certain types of bacteria which cause dental infections. It should only treat with a dentist’s permission.

Ear infection

Augmentin (amoxicillin/clavulanate) is a combination antibiotic that treats bacterial infections including ear infections, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, also pneumonia, sinusitis, and infections of the skin.

 Urinary tract infection (UTI)

This medicine is FDA-approved for treating UTIs. According to the Infectious Diseases Society of America, Augmentin is not a first-choice antibiotic for UTI. It should treat when other medications such as trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole cannot utilize.

Precautions

These drugs can cause severe allergies, along with a hypersensitivity reaction, which can be severe.

The combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate can cause diarrhea, and in some cases, it can be severe.

It may be two months or additional when you stop the abuse with these drugs.

Do not take any medicines for the treatment of diarrhea without doing a preliminary check with your doctor.

In some young patients, also discoloration of teeth may occur while using this medicine.

Teeth may resemble brown, also yellow, or brown spots.

To help prevent this, also brush and floss your teeth regularly or clean your teeth.

Amoxicillin and clavulanate combination may decrease the results of some oral contraceptives (birth management pills).

To avoid getting pregnant, use another type of contraceptive.
