Amlodipine is used for the treatment of blood pressure or chest pain and other conditions due to coronary artery disease. It relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.

Low blood pressure reduces the loss of stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, and other potentially fatal conditions.

This tablet does not cure high blood pressure and chest pain but helps in controlling them.

How does Amlodipine work

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It works by inhibiting the entry of calcium into cardiac and vascular smooth muscle and prevents muscle contraction and thereby reducing blood pressure.

How to take amlodipine

Common dosage
The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. The doctor may initially start with a low dose and gradually increase it in chronic cases of hypertension.

Do not use this medicine in large or small amounts or for longer than recommended.

Side effects 

Amlodipine may cause some side effects such as swelling of hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs, headache, upset stomach, abdominal pain, dizziness or a mild headache, drowsiness, extreme fatigue, flushing. Some side effects can be serious. Contact a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.
