How to use Ivermectin
- On an empty stomach, take this drug with a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters) at least 1 hour before a meal. Ivermectin is often administered in a single dosage or a series of doses, or as advised by your doctor.
- Dosage is determined by our weight, medical condition, and treatment response. If your issue persists or worsens, contact your doctor.
Side Effects
- Headache, dizziness, muscle discomfort, nausea, and diarrhea are all possible side effects. During the first four days of treatment for river blindness (onchocerciasis), you may have joint discomfort, tender/swollen lymph nodes, eye swelling/redness/pain, weakness, visual changes, itching, rash, and fever as a result of the dying parasites.
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist right away if any of these side effects persist or worsen.
- When rising gently from a sitting or lying position, you can reduce dizziness when standing.
- Keep in mind that your doctor ordered this medication because he or she believes the benefit to you outweighs the risk of adverse effects. The majority of people who take this medicine do not have any substantial adverse effects.
- If you have any of the following rare but serious side effects: neck/back pain, swelling of the face/arms/hands/feet, chest pain, fast heartbeat, confusion, seizures, or loss of consciousness, contact your doctor straight once.
- This medicine seldom causes a severe allergic reaction. However, if you detect any symptoms of a major allergic response, such as a rash, itching/swelling (particularly of the face/tongue/throat), extreme dizziness, or problems breathing, seek medical help right once.
