What is Zyban?
Zyban (bupropion) is used to help people stop smoking by reducing cravings and other withdrawal effects.
Bupropion may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide. Bupropion can decrease your nitcotine with drawl symptoms (e.g., irritability, anxiety, restlessness) and your urge to smoke. Smoking cessation decreases your risk of heart and lung disease, as well as cancer.
Dosages of Zyban:
Initial dose: 150 mg orally once a day in the morning. Increase the dosage if necessary after 3 days to 150 mg orally twice a day.
Maintenance dose: 150 mg orally twice a day
Maximum dose: 400 mg/day; maximum single dose should not exceed 200 mg.
Side effects of using Zyban:
Insomnia, nausea, pharyngitis, weight loss, constipation, dizziness, headache, and xerostomia.
