What is Chantix?
Chantix (Varenicline) is a medicine used by people who want to quit the habit of smoking.
Chantix is used together with behavior modification and counseling support to help you stop smoking because when person stop smoking, he may have nicotine withdrawal symptoms with or without using medication such as Chantix. This includes feeling restless, depressed, angry, frustrated, or irritated.
Dosage of Chantix:
For first 3 days person should take half tablet of Chantix 1 mg, once in a day, then person can take 0.5 mg of Chantix twice a day for next 4 days then from 8th day till the end of treatment person can take 1 mg of Chantix twice a day.
How long it takes to complete the treatment with Chantix?
The patient can begin CHANTIX dosing and then quit smoking between days 8 and 35 of treatment.
Patients should be treated with CHANTIX for 12 weeks. For patients who have successfully stopped smoking at the end of 12 weeks, an additional course of 12 weeks treatment with CHANTIX is recommended to further increase the likelihood of long-term abstinence.
